Kamla Persad-Bissessar (born 22 April 1952) is the seventh and current Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She was sworn in as Prime Minister on May 26, 2010 and is the country’s first female Prime Minister. Persad-Bissessar has served as Member of Parliament for the Siparia constituency since 1995. She served as Attorney General in 1995 until Ramesh Maharaj was able to disassociate himself from ongoing cases and again in 2001 after Maharaj left the party. When the United National Congress formed Government in December 22, 2000, she was sworn in as the Minister of Education.

Congratulations Madam Prime Minister, you have certainly made us all very hopeful that finally someone of your high standard & caliber will finally start the vast cleanup of corruption crime and wasteful spending Trinidad needs!

She is an inspiration to so many! I pray that she continues to make positive changes… I will be watching!
Her job ahead is not easy in any way. I believe that she will have the ability to come a long way as far as reducing corruption in Trinidad. It is always a great thing to watch. Another piece of history to watch unfold in front of our eyes. I am anxious to see more.
