Carte P. Goodwin served as Governor Joe Manchin’s chief counsel during his first term in office from 2005-2009 and was at one time the chairman (designated by Gov. Manchin) of the West Virginia School Building Authority. In 2009, Manchin appointed him chair of the Independent Commission on Judicial Reform, which studied the need for judicial reforms in West Virginia. I think that this is quite exciting! While he will never be Senator Bird he seems to be well qualified! Good luck and God speed. It is the changes that we help to make that make us successful!
Those are big shoes to fill. I pray that he is up to the challenge. I am sure that the people in WV have expectations of what he will accomplish. Time will tell and time is not something he has a lot of.
I think that his vast experience in business will certainly help him in his new position. It will be interesting to see what happens in the fall.
Here we have another young man trying to fit into the boys club. I guess that we will see if he is able to accomplish anything in the time he has. The big question remains… will the people of WV like him enough to keep him there?
God bless Senator Byrd. I pray that Mr. Goodwin will be able to work well with others to accomplish set goals. Something in the political arena has to change in order for things to get accomplished.

I think that he will do a fine job. I just worry he will not have enough time to shine. He has certainly jumped in with two feet though!
