Currently: Gingrich is savoring victory after winning the South Carolina GOP primary with 40.4% of the vote. Romney was somewhat far behind in second with 27.8% of the vote. He represented Georgia’s 6th congressional district as a Republican from 1979 until his resignation in 1999.
