  1. Carrie says:

Byrd was so respected not only in his position but also by the people of this great nation. It is a shame his life has come to an end but the impact he leaves behind will last forever!

  2. Jim says:

Although Senator Byrd is not my favorite man there is something to be said for how long he stayed in office. Even though your ratings do not show that he was respected we need to consider the fact that he was in office longer than any other person in history. That fact just cannot be overlooked.

  3. Sarah says:

The Senator's passing is a complete shame although I think that it will be beneficial to our nation to get younger leaders in office.

  4. Jules says:

My heart goes out to the Byrd family… They have lost a great man just as we as a nation have lost a great leader.

  5. Paul says:

Senator Byrd certainly had a long life. Many say that he was a racist bigot who belonged to the KKK. I am not sure that any of that has been proven. I sure hope that he was not though. He would have rolled over in his grave when the half black president Obama gave his eulogy.

  6. Rebecca says:

I think that for all Senator Byrd was or was not he should be commended. He dedicated his entire life to serving his country and no one should overlook that. I am sure that it will be a very long time before someone serves longer than he did.

  7. Becca says:

He was one of the last of a dying breed. I have prayed for his family and only hope that we move past this tragic moment in time. You will be missed… fly home Byrd and live with God.

  8. Sam says:

Senator Byrd had a lot of ups and downs in his career. One of the things I remember most about him has nothing to do with his politics, but his family. I believe that he really loved and cherished the life he had. Rest in peace.
