Bio: James Earl “Jimmy” Carter Jr. (born October 1, 1924) in Plains, Georgia. As a member of the Democratic Party, Carter served as the 39th president of the United States from 1977-1981. Carter graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in 1946. Following graduation he married Rosalynn Smith. Carter served as a Naval Officer for seven years before entering the political arena. He served one term as the Democratic Governor of Georgia and two terms as the Democratic Senator for Georgia.
