3 World Leaders That Might Change the World

While there are plenty of leaders that could change the world, there are few that are as well situated as the following three to make significant changes that the entire world will have to face, or embrace.

Jim Yong Kim

Jim Yong KimA physician appointed to head the World Bank by President Obama, Jim Yong Kim is the first Asian American and the first person to devote his career to helping the poor to lead the World Bank in the organization’s history. Kim has an entirely different background and set of experience than any of the previous leaders of the World Bank so what he does with the organization could be world-changing. However, before he can change the world through policy he first needs to change the World Bank.

There are plenty of critics out there about how the organization is run, citing that bankers and politicians are in charge of what happens. The appointment of Kim signals that a change is under way. As long as he appoints like-minded and well-suited individuals, the focus of the bank could shift. His focus will most likely be on helping the poor to move out of poverty and into a more comfortable lifestyle. This won’t be easy and with a background that doesn’t hold much experience in this particular role he will have a great deal to learn. As long as he finds the right support team he could learn from them and make the changes that many have hoped for.

Al Gore

While he has been quiet as of late, the splash he made in the early ‘00’s could lead to a significant change in the future of our world. The science is still not fully accepted, but climate change is going to be the most likely cause of the destruction of our world. With the passion and power of Al Gore backing the movement to clean up the mess that we likely made of the world, we may have a bright (and comfortable) future to look forward to. His leadership will be important and he will need to find the people to support his fight as they move against those that are not in full agreement with science behind climate change.

The Clinton’s

This is a bit of a cheat since Bill and Hillary are actually two people. The two embody one idea though, and that idea could lead to a change that is so far down the road many of us will never see it. Politics has always been a violent and aggressive format, but the Clintons are very clear about the need for people from all walks of life to work together. In a speech at the recent Democratic National Convention he made a point of stating that the most important thing is that we forget our labels as we move towards projects that could help others. If we can all get past our differences as the Clinton’s hope we will, we can all become a piece of the puzzle that changes the world for the better.
